India's junior hockey team is on fire! They've stormed into the quarter-finals of the Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025 after a dominant performance against Switzerland, winning with a resounding 5-0 victory. This marks their continued unbeaten streak in the tournament.
The match, held at the Madurai International Hockey Stadium on Tuesday, saw Manmeet Singh and Sharda Nand Tiwari each scoring two goals. Arsheep Singh added another to the tally, showcasing India's offensive prowess.
This victory not only secured their place in the quarter-finals but also placed India at the top of Pool B, with a perfect score of nine points from their three matches. They previously crushed Chile with a 7-0 win and Oman with a staggering 17-0 victory, and impressively, they are yet to concede a single goal throughout the tournament.
The game's excitement started early, with Manmeet Singh scoring in the 2nd minute, giving the home side an immediate advantage. He followed up with another goal in the 11th minute. Sharda Nand Tiwari then added to the lead in the 13th minute with a well-executed penalty corner, making it 3-0. Arshdeep Singh, who had a hat-trick in the previous match against Oman, contributed with a goal in the 28th minute.
But here's where it gets interesting: Goalkeeper Prince Deep Singh played a crucial role, making fantastic saves to keep Switzerland from scoring. India's clinical performance was consistent throughout the match, maintaining their momentum into the final quarter. Sharda Nand Tiwari, later named Player of the Match, sealed the deal with his second goal in the 54th minute, bringing the score to 5-0.
The Indian junior hockey team will now face Belgium in the quarter-finals in Chennai on Friday.
